Farmoor Reservoir is one of the best inland waters in the South of England and home of Oxford Sailing Club.
Oxford Sail Training Trust is recognised by the Royal Yachting Association as a Teaching Establishment, which means that you can be confident that the standard of tuition and equipment will be excellent. You will follow the RYA dinghy scheme and the certificates are widely recognised.

Adult RYA Level 1 Start Sailing
This course provides a short introduction to sailing for novices. By the end of the course you will have a basic understanding of dinghy handling techniques and background knowledge, including how to rig the boat, sailing across the wind and returning to the shore.

Adult RYA Level 2 Basic Skills
Level 2 is the standard required to hire boats at most centres across the globe. On completion of this course you will have a basic knowledge of sailing and be capable of sailing without an instructor on board in light winds. It will be assumed that every pupil starting this course has already mastered the practical skills and background knowledge of the Level 1 course.

Casual Coaching (Adult)
NEW for 2025 are our extended Casual Coaching days. Designed for those of you just off your Level 2 course and looking to get a few extra hours on the water before taking the next step. This is a three hour session that will give you some goals, or maybe a quick refresher at the start of the season.
Each session is 3 hours long, with the briefing starting 1.30pm. We recommend you arrive before this time in order to rig your kit, get changed & make the most of your booked slot.
Please note pre-booking through the website is essential, and booking will stop at mid-day on Friday.

Adult RYA Level 3 Better Sailing
Join our RYA Level 3 Dinghy Sailing Course, designed for adults who have completed Level 2 and are eager to build on their foundational sailing knowledge. Over the course of the weekend, you will enhance your skills, gain confidence, and take your sailing to new heights! On completion of this course the successful sailor will be safety conscious and capable of sailing in moderate conditions. This course is designed to allow the sailor to practice and consolidate their technique whilst experiencing some of the thrill involved in advanced sailing, such as spinnakers, trapezing and simple race techniques.

Adult Spinnaker Sailing
Are you a confident sailor looking to improve your skills and sail faster? On this course you’ll learn how to control three sails at once and travel faster than ever before! Our instructors will prepare you to use the spinnaker with confidence, expanding your sailing experience in a fun and exciting new way.
We will use a combination of the single-handed Fusion 1 PRO & double handed Fusion 2 dinghies, both of which are brand new for 2024.
Please note this is a two day course and we recommend completing your "Level 3 Better Sailing" before booking.

Adult Start Racing
You will learn and develop a range of skills required for understanding dinghy racing and getting out onto the race course for the first time. An experienced RYA Racing Instructor will take you through the race signals and start sequence, how to start a race and sail the course, mark rounding, racing rules, tactics and boat tuning.
By the end of the course you should have the confidence and skills to venture out to try Club Racing for the first time.

Adult Catamaran Introduction
This one-day course is an introduction to the exciting world of catamarans! Designed for sailors who have qualified to RYA Level 2 standard & using our RS Cat 16s, this introduction will take you through the basics. From rigging, tacking and gybing techniques and how to sail these fast and exciting craft efficiently, this course will take your sailing in new directions.
