The Duke of Edinburgh's Award (DofE) is a voluntary, non-competitive programme of activities for anyone aged 14 to 24 that gives young people the opportunity to experience new activities or develop existing skills. There are three progressive levels of programmes which, when successfully completed, lead to a Bronze, Silver or Gold Award.

There are currently 275,000 young people participating in a DofE award programme in the UK, with over 80,000 achieving a Bronze, Silver and Gold Award each year.

Achieving a DofE Award can be made an adventure from beginning to end. Within our RYA Training Centre, there are so many activities young people could take part in which can count towards their award.

  • Volunteering: Our Young Leader Programme is a great way to help out on a regular basis for those of you interested in taking your sailing to a more professional level. Follow the link below to take you to the page to find out more about our instructor training programme.

  • Physical: If you're interested in Sailing or Windsurfing activities, why not set yourself a goal to gain a certain certificate in the RYA National Sailing or Windsurfing scheme & participate in our weekly evening sessions? For any School groups we can arrange regular weekly sailing activities for your groups over a long period of time to facilitate this.

  • Skill: It's all about developing your skills whether they are practical, social & personal. Why not sharpen up your Powerboating with our RYA Level 2 course and then Volunteer to help with rescue duties with our Evening Clubs to consolidate your skills?

  • Expedition: Why not let us organise an on-the-water expedition down the Thames for your group or school? The expedition will be supervised and led by our qualified Instructors so you can rest assured that the group will have fun in a safe environment. School or Groups can contact us here at the centre to discuss your needs, just email paul@oxfordsailtraining.co.uk or phone 01865 865551.
